Mazda Celebrates 100 years
Mazda Celebrates its 100 years!! Which makes this year is a very special one for us! The company originally started out as a cork manufacturer, but moved into vehicle production within a decade. We owe those 100 years to the continued support from our customers, business partners, shareholders and fans all over the world, who have stuck with us through thick and thin every step of the way.
As part of Mazda Celebrates It’s 100 years – Mazda is producing a Special Edition Series on the full Mazda Range. These special edition models were prepared as a token of Mazda’s appreciation for those who have supported Mazda this far, along with our determination to continue to cherish our founder’s aspiration of enriching people’s lives. There is only a limited amount of the Special Edition vehicles produced and since Mazda3 is the only 7th Generation vehicle, Mazda SA ordered three Mazda3 2.0 Astina Hatch 100th Anniversary models.
Whilst the 100th Anniversary Special Edition vehicles will not be for general sale, Mazda Southern Africa will make the three Mazda3 2.0 Astina Hatch 100th Anniversary Special Editions available to members of the media, as well as for special occasions to celebrate the company’s centenary.
To distinguish the models from their normal brethren, the centenary versions adopt a white-and-burgundy two-tone colour coordination inspired by the brand’s first passenger car, the R360 coupe, created in 1960. Other standout items include a 100th anniversary special logo placed on the exterior and interior of the commemorative models.
Towards the next 100 years, we will continue to strengthen co-creation and cooperation with all those who work with Mazda and always remain true to our unique trait of “co-creating with others” placing people at the centre of our minds, constantly challenging ourselves to create unique products, technologies, and experiences that our customers love.
CMH Mazda Randburg is proud to be a part of the Mazda brand, and your preferred dealer in Johannesburg

Drive.
The Mazda 3 has been refined to offer a very comfortable and relaxing drive. Mazda has focused its attention to make the vehicles driver excited and it can be felt as soon as you get behind the wheel of the New Mazda 3. Its sharp flat cornering around the tight bends really holds it’s own and has progressive speed moment through the gear shifts.
The 1.5L models are offered in both a Manual and Auto transmission while the 2.0L Astina is only offered in an Auto Transmission. Both engines return decent fuel economy figures which won’t leave you on the side of the road driving down to Durban from Johannesburg with a Jerry can in your hands.
Safety
To be considered a premium brand or premium vehicle, you have to offer premium features. Safety has become even more important and vital in any premium vehicle being released now. With vehicles getting faster and smarter, there is a greater need for better safety features to ensure your safety at all costs.

Introducing The Limited H-Generation Mazda CX-3, the first compact SUV that combines the stylish design of a hatchback with the versatility of an SUV. We are pleased to inform our valued loyal Mazda customers about the product specification updates on the CX-3 H-Generation. There are no updates to the body panels and the design of the vehicle but the specification enhancement model. The Mazda CX-3 has been around for a while, since 2015, and has become quite popular with South African motorists. But what makes the new and improved 2020 Mazda CX-3 different from the previous generation.
SKYACTIV- G 2.0L PETROL ENGINE
A new-generation internal combustion engine generates more performance from less fuel thanks to a precise multi -hole direct injection system. A unique piston design improves combustion to boost power and lower emissions. Reduced friction liberates extra power, while a 4-2-1 exhaust layout lifts efficiency. The 4-cylinder engine delivers a sporty 115 kW of power and 206 Nm of torque, using as little as 6 . 7 litres of fuel every 100 km (combined).
SKYACTIV-BODY
We’ve applied the high standards of Takumi craftsmanship to the Mazda CX-3, like all our Mazda cars. The new-generation design and materials reduce mass while achieving high rigidity. Key joints are strengthened by advanced techniques requiring no heavy reinforcement. High and ultra-high tensile steel cuts weight and boosts strength. Despite being light, the Mazda CX-3 delivers world-class collision protection.
SKYACTIV-CHASSIS
The sense of ‘oneness’ between car and driver is amplified through careful optimisation throughout. Agility and refinement are ensured by a light weight front strut and rear torsion beam suspension, employing firm bushings and precise geometry. Electric power – assisted steering delivers secure yet responsive handling and also saves fuel.
SKYACTIV-DRIVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
We want you to feel connected to the Mazda CX-3, so you can drive in a way that feels completely natural .The 6-speed automatic transmission combines the best aspects of conventional automatic , continuously variable and dual-clutch transmissions . It connects directly with the engine across a far wider range than other automatics for increased fuel economy and more direct power delivery.
SKYACTIV MANUAL TRANSMISSION
The Mazda CX-3 helps you to be the best driver you can be. The 6-speed SKYACTIV manual transmission delivers accurate, sports-car style shifting through simplified design and a precision mechanism. More compact and lighter than comparable transmissions, it significantly cuts friction to improve fuel economy.
We will be introducing a new color to the CX-3 range which is the Poly-metal Grey as the Titanium Flash has been discontinued. The individual plus derivative will adopt a new and unique name for the H-Generation model aligning it to the High plus nomenclature in our product range which is the Mazda2-Hazumi, Mazda3- Astina , Mazda CX-5 -Akera and the new unique name to the Mazda CX-3 top of the range is HIKARI. Visit us at corner Hill Street and West Avenue Ferndale and come experience The Limited H-Generation Mazda CX-3.
0118412199Where Mazda Comes From?
CMH Hatfield would like to share some information of – where from, who owns and where their cars are being manufactured.
Mazda is owned by the Mazda Motor Corporation. The company was first incorporated as Toyo Cork Kogyo Co., Ltd. In Hiroshima, Japan in the 1920 and later changed its name to Toyo Kogyo Co, in 1927. The company only officially changed its name to Mazda in 1984, although every vehicle produced bore the Mazda name as part of its model title.
The company first manufactured industrial tools before introducing the Mazdago “Autorickshaws”, a three-wheeled truck/motorcycle. As the world demanded more affordable cars, they compiled designs for more compact cars, trucks and three-wheeled vehicles that brought about the creation of the legendary Wankel rotary engine. Mazda was known solely for their three-wheeled carts, and the first passenger vehicle was created in 1940. The companies first real car, the Mazda R360 went into production in 1960 and entered the North American market in 1970 with the RX-2.
Currently Mazda models are built in a variety of locations both in Japan and America. There are two manufacturing facilities located in Hiroshima and another in Hofu, Japan. In addition to these three manufacturing facilities in Japan, there are a few in North America at Flat Rock, Michigan and Claycomo, Missouri.
Mazda’s global headquarters is still based in Hiroshima, Japan.

Cheers to a Century of Soul and Iconic Models
For the past 100 years, Mazda has been at the forefront of evolution, with Iconic Models, bold designs and model make overs that have completely transformed the look and feel of the car. This year we celebrate 100 years of a Brand that has made its way into our hearts and has proven time and again that it gets better over time like a fine wine.
When you think of Mazda, a couple of popular models come to mind such the ever so popular Mazda 323, the sporty and daring to drive Mazda RX-7, the fast and furious Mazda MX-6, and lets not all forget our favourite roadster of all time, The Mazda MX-5 also better known as the Mazda Miata amongst enthusiasts.
These Iconic Models have taken a bold evolution along the years adopting to modern technology and design trends while some of these models have set the benchmark on daring designs and have rightly been awarded for that.
The short-lived sports car
The Mazda MX6 was short lived in its production life but has not been forgotten as one of the great Mazda Sports cars. It was powered by a 2.5L V6 engine producing 149kw of power and 224nm of torque. It did 0-100 in 7secs in an era where that was considered to be a bench mark time in its category. Sadly the Mazda MX-6 has been discontinued but it still lives strong in our hearts.
A Local Legend
Whether you are an enthusiast or not, The Mazda 323 is surely a vehicle you have heard in passing. The Mazda 323 is known as a local legend in South Africa. The vehicle was launch in 1977 with a couple of modifications to better suit the South African climate and market. The Mazda 323 Launch with a hatchback model which has now grown to be the favourite over the sedan version which was later released into the market. What makes this vehicle so iconic is because it dropped in a period of time where fuel price where at the all-time high and there was a huge demand for a fuel efficient vehicle. Not only was the Mazda 323 fuel efficient, it also had an increased full tank over its Asian Counterpart. This meant the Mazda 323 could make the Durban – Johannesburg trip on a single tank. The Mazda 323 has grown in size and sophistication. It now goes by the Mazda 3 and is still loved across South Africa.
A successor in its own right
The Mazda RX-8 is the successor to the front/mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive, rotary engine-powered Mazda RX-7 sports car. The Mazda RX-8 dropped with a unique design that turned heads every time it drove by in which setting it was found it.
Mazda the RX-8 was a 2+2 sports car that had clubman styled rear doors for the passengers to enter. It has a wide track that helped it stay flat around corners when you drive it to the edge. The 6 speed Mazda RX-8 had a claimed output of 173kw of power and 216nm of torque. Sadly the Mazda RX8 was also discontinue in 2008. We are surely looking forward to a successor either continuing being known by its popular name or maybe being named as the Mazda RX9. If that ever happens, we are sure Mazda will incorporate a lot of KODO Design and may win plenty awards as its predecessor.
The Mazda Miata
Commonly known amongst the enthusiast as the Miata, The Mazda MX-5 is the most popular and the world’s best-selling 2 seated roadster. The Mazda MX5 made its debut in 1989 and has gone to release 4 more versions and a couple of special editions along the way. A 50/50 weight distribution, soft and hard top option, Manual gear gift knob and engaged driving experience are a few things that make the Mazda MX5 the choice of vehicle for Petrol Heads and enthusiast alike.
Mazda lives on
After 100 years of Mazda, it’s good to know that Mazda takes great strides in being a class leading Car manufacturer and continues to take bold new risks in innovation, design and style.

The highly anticipated Turbo Charged Mazda 3
Is this the defining factor that the Mazda 3 has been missing all along?
The new Turbo Charged Mazda 3 that launched in 2019 was met with a mix of different emotions. Its bold new design was something that was much talked about and heavily debated among the loyalists of the Mazda brand. Most probably the shocking discussion on everyone’s lips was the engine line-up offerings. There are two different engines that Mazda are offering on the . A 1.5l petrol engine which delivers 88kw and 153nm of power and a 2.0l petrol engine delivering 121kw and 213nm of power. Neither of these engines are turbo charged. Was this decision deliberate or did they have other plans in mind? How exactly does a turbo charged increase its social value?
There are two main perks of going turbo charged. One is fuel efficiency and the other is increased performance. Let’s focus on the latter for now as that seems to be the key focus of concern. Increased performance from a turbo charged engine will sure match the presence that the Mazda 3 currently has on the road.
Increased performance will make it a perfect match up for its counter parts from Germany. This may entice buyers to opt for the lesser expensive offering from Japan that offers the premium fit and finish as a Mercedes Benz A-Class or BMW 1 series. The interior of the already surpasses the quality and feel over the popular Golf, and may just be a more compelling buy offer over the Audi A3.
Is a turbo charged Mazda 3 worth the wait?
To a very few number of buyers, it most certainly is. The average consumer who does not really take exhilarating performance into consideration, the current offerings will do just fine. They are fuel efficient compared to the other vehicles in its class and offers a very comfortable driving experience that outweighs a minor lack in “performance”.
Look out for deals on the Mazda 3.
