The Mazda CX30 Dynamic has finally landed on shore, hit the roads of South Africa, and is currently available on the dealership floors. The Mazda CX30 comes in 3 trim lines. Active, Dynamic and Individual line. We recon the Dynamic is the sought-after trim line and here is why.
The Mazda CX30 line-up all share the same 2.0L in-line 4-cylinder 16-valve Petrol engine delivering 121kw of power and 213nm of Torque through a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Although the Active is the entry level line, it comes well equipped with Smart Keyless Push engine start button, 8.8 inch widescreen display with MZD Connect, Airbags for driver and passenger (side, knee and curtain airbags) USB port, Heads-Up Display, Cruise Control and LED Lights to mention a few.
The top line Individual trim comes standard with all the CX30 Active features and then some. These features include Rear Parking sensors, Reverse Camera, Frameless Auto Dimming Rear-View Mirror, Leather seats, BOSE sound system with 12 speakers and 18inch Silver Metallic Alloy Wheel.
Both offerings are well equipped at their respective price point.
The entry level Active line is perfect for budget friendly buyers and offers great features at a competitive price point. Rival vehicles at its price point do not come close to the excellent build quality, power output, nor the standard features it comes with.
The Individual line is a great option for those who want all the bells and whistles with no compromises. The Mazda CX30 Individual is priced perfectly in the market offering features that other brands would love to have in their offerings.
Not all of us are looking for all the bells and whistles when buying a vehicle and are just willing to spend a little extra that hits the sweet spot between budget and top spec.
The Mazda CX30 Dynamic falls perfectly in that criteria. The Dynamic trim offers the same features as the Active Trim. Extra standard features include Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Auto Paddle Transmission Gears on the Steering Wheel, Dual Climate Control, Smart advanced Keyless Entry and Parking Sensors.
So where exactly did they compromise?
The Dynamic does not offer leather seats, a rear parking camera and an electric driver’s seat.
The trade-offs still make the Dynamic trim an amazing offer which includes the best of both worlds for not so much more extra money from the CX30 Active.

CMH Mazda Randburg has compiled a few easy steps to help you in the unfortunate event:
The first step is to slowly pull over and try to park from a safe distance from the road away from the passing vehicles. Put on your hazards lights and make sure your Mazda vehicle is parked with your handbrake on.
The next step will be to loosen your wheel nuts by one turn. Remember, turning a bolt or nut anti-clockwise will normally loosen it, whereas turning it clockwise, or to the right, will tighten it (lefty loosely, righty tightly…). Try a quick anti-clockwise jolt to loosen, or if you need more force, carefully use your foot or get your body weight behind the brace.
Once all the nuts are loose, look at your Mazda vehicle’s manual to find the correct point to place the jack. Slowly wind the jack to raise the vehicle until there is about a 5-10cm gap between the road and your tyre. Remove each wheel nut completely and put them in a safe place.
Slowly remove the flat tyre and place it under the car (using it as a support mechanism just in case the jack gives way). Take your spare tyre and line it up with the wheel holes before placing the tyre onto the wheel hub. Put the wheel nuts back into place and tighten them as far as you can using your hand.
Remove the flat tyre from underneath the vehicle and wind the jack down until the spare tyre is taking on the vehicle’s weight. Remove the jack. Use the wheel brace to fully tighten your wheel nuts. Place your tools and flat tyre back into the boot in a secure place.
If you’ve completed these steps correctly, and feel safe to do so, you should now be in a position to get back on the road. You have successfully just changed your own tyre all on your own.
The Mazda CX-5 has proven to be a formidable offering in the family car segment, so much so, in fact, that it’s currently the Cars Awards powered by WesBank Family Car champion and might even scoop yet another win in the 2020/21 iteration of the awards program with the winners due to be announced in mid-February.
In an effort to boost the CX-5’s already impressive kerb appeal, Mazda SA has now introduced a sportier version called the CX-5 Carbon Edition which effectively replaces the CX-5 2.0 Individual derivative. The CX-5 Carbon Edition retains the familiar naturally-aspirated 2.0-litre petrol engine which offers 121kW and 213Nm powering the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission.
On the outside, the CX-5 Carbon Edition gains styling enhancements such as glossy black mirrors and 19-inch black alloy wheels while the interior boasts black film seen on the dashboard and door panels as well as red stitching on the steering wheel, gear lever, knee pads and seats. Leather and suede combination upholstery is standard. Customers will have the choice of 6 exterior colours including Snowflake White Pearl, Sonic Silver, Machine Grey, Soul Red Crystal, Poly-metal Grey and Jet Black.
“The Mazda CX-5 is still an appealing SUV with its exterior styling, comfortable and pleasing interior, and the many standard features it offers. We have added the Carbon Edition to subtlety enhance the style of this SUV further, whilst retaining its outstanding balance of ride and handling” commented Craig Roberts, Managing Director of Mazda Southern Africa.
