The Mazda Brand – Carrying the herritage forward
Mazda CX-5
Our new-generation product lineup released since the launch of the Mazda CX-5 has earned customer support and high acclaim around the world for its powerful sense of vitality born of Mazda’s KODO—Soul of Motion design language and combination of driving pleasure and environmental performance delivered by SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY. I feel this shows our company-wide quest to deliver unique value transcending notions of class and segment. Mazda is beginning to fulfill its dream of becoming an irreplaceable presence in the lives of our customers, connected to them through a strong and special bond. We strive to regularly update our products and continuously introduce the latest from Mazda to deliver greater value and refinement. We do this because we believe it is the true path toward satisfying our customers’ expectations and realizing our dream.Mazda 3
The current Mazda3 debuted in 2013 as the third model to join Mazda’s new-generation product lineup. Our aim with it as “The Mazda” was to embody the Mazda spirit in the most widely sold model the brand offers. With its unique appeal based on Mazda’s human-centered design philosophy, the Mazda3 assumed its role as a core model for the global market that would lead the way toward the evolution and advancement of the Mazda brand. Highly acclaimed, especially for its impressive design and excellent handling, the Mazda3 was selected as one of the top-three finalists for both the 2014 World Car of the Year and World Car Design of the Year awards.Great Updates
Our primary theme for this, the model’s first major update, was to heighten the Jinba Ittai driving experience. Toward this purpose, we are introducing G-Vectoring Control (GVC) as the first application of Mazda’s new-generation vehicle dynamics control technology we call SKYACTIV-VEHICLE DYNAMICS. GVC was born from the revolutionary idea of using the engine to enhance chassis performance and was developed based on Mazda’s human-centered design philosophy. It is a technology that aims to provide both the driver and all passengers with the Jinba Ittai experience by realizing smooth, predictable and efficient movement. With our goal clearly defined, we paid close attention to passionate feedback received from our customers as we worked to evolve the Mazda3 to a new level. We started with evolving the product in the areas of safety and peace of mind. This involved further enhancement of Mazda’s advanced i-ACTIVSENSE safety technologies. And, we further evolved the overall quality of the model from a vehicle-total perspective. With our goal being to evolve the Mazda brand and further raise the level of quality, we significantly improved the quality in all respects based on our human-centered philosophy. This ranges from improvements made to the interior and exterior design, to the respective functions, while also achieving a far quieter ride. The Mazda CX-3 – One Hot Crossover SUV

From city action to exploring what’s beyond, it gives you the looks and versatility to move in a whole new way. The CX-3 is a completely new model with a boldly inspired exterior, a stylish interior as well as dynamic performance and sporty handling. With a combination of Mazda’s latest technology and design, maximised fuel efficiency and the latest active safety and connectivity technology; the compact crossover is a successful combination of engineering, design and a flexible driver oriented approach.
The CX-3 is a fun and feisty runabout with a can-do attitude, offering taut handling paired with edgy styling.
The CX-3 relies on its sport-tuned suspension and creative weight-saving measures to maintain Mazda’s unique brand of driving pleasure. The cabin is equally well designed, featuring high-quality materials and modern driving aids.
Up front, the CX-3 is pretty comfortable. The seats are supportive and quite low-set and the steering wheel adjusts for reach and rake, so it should be easy for any driver or front passenger to find a suitable seating position.

Team CMH Mazda Umhlanga would like to extend a very warm welcome to our pre-owned vehicle manager Kovilan Pillay!
Born and brought up in SA, Kovilan matriculated at Burnwood Secondary in 1996 and has been in the motor industry for 11 years, bringing an array of experience and wisdom to steer the pre-owned department to greatness! Happily married and raising 2 gorgeous girls, this true petrol-head is a full-on motorsport enthusiast.
Being a member of Motorsport South Africa for 18 years now, he has raced many of his self-built monsters all around the country.
He also has been to England just to watch the Formula 1 Grand Prix, even more evidence that Kovilan has petrol running through his veins! A culmination of ambition and passion has surely instilled great managerial skills and work ethics in Kovilan, paving the way for many more years of explosive success! Welcome to the team Kovilan!
CMH Mazda Umhlanga Pre-Owned ManagerMazda’s latest tech will improve comfort, stability and grip!
Mazda has revealed a new engine control technology that helps improve comfort, stability and grip, which is called G-Vectoring Control (GVC). The system limits the torque from the engine to create a smooth transition between G-forces. It works at all times, measuring steering wheel movements every five milliseconds – bringing benefits on both straight roads and during cornering.
Integrated Control System manager Toru Yoshioka told Auto Express: “This system encourages the driver to operate the vehicle like an expert driver.”
It does so by optimising the vertical load on different corners of the car, in the same way that a racing driver would modulate their inputs on the throttle during cornering. Because this system uses super-fast computers, it’s said more accurate than a person could ever be.
Mazda says the system is designed to go unnoticed by the driver, and that’s the exact impression we got on the Mazda 3 and Mazda 6 models we tried.
It feels natural and helps with smoother more efficient driving. Mazda says the system is part of a human-cantered design philosophy, and will also help your body prepare itself better for corners. Because the steering response feels more natural, you are better prepared to absorb the movement as you go around a corner.
Mazda’s latest range of Skyactiv engines and chassis were the only units able to support the system, which has actually been in development for around six years. Unlike torque vectoring, the GVC system increases grip rather than the amount of wheel rotation – but the key difference is that it can be fitted using only engine software and sensors. That means it can be fitted to any current Mazda without much extra cost – so it’s expected to come as standard on the updated versions of the whole range.
Mazda isn’t saying which car will get the system first. We expect to see the first car with GVC getting it as part of a mid-life facelift, however, which is likely to be the Mazda 3 hatchback.

CMH Mazda Umhlanga – Vehicle Display At Builders Warehouse
Team CMH Mazda Umhlanga is continually pushing the envelope when it comes to exposing and sharing the awesomeness of the Mazda experience. This time, our energetic and vibrant team were at The Builders Warehouse in Riverhorse Valley from the 24th to 26th June 2016.
The fantastic Mazda BT-50 caused quite a stir with its masculine lines and intimidating stance! With unrivalled ground clearance, economical and powerful engines, and loaded with premium quality safety, comfort and convenience features, why wouldn’t you want to feel like ‘the boss of the road’ in the Mazda BT-50!
Elegantly sitting next to the BT-50 was the Mazda CX-5, just oozing sexiness in that gorgeous Soul Red colour! With vehicles becoming more of a fashion statement of lately, the Mazda CX-5 would surely fall into the designer couture category if there was ever one.
This curvaceous SUV caught the eyes of those who like the finer things in life. Chatting to the public about the CX-5 was just too easy….all we had to do was open the doors and invite them into pure premium luxury and refinement of the interior. Introducing them to the smaller CX-3 variation was also an eye-opener to those that weren’t familiar with the Mazda brand.
Once again our presence was greatly appreciated by the public and it was a fun-filled weekend at Builders Warehouse! See you soon!

La Lucia Mall Father’s Day Display – CMH Mazda Umhlanga
Team CMH Mazda Umhlanga where once again out and about showing off our fabulous vehicles, this time at the La Lucia Mall celebrating the awesome Father’s Day Weekend Vehicle Display on the 18th & 19th June 2016.
It was all about the dad’s so it was befitting to display our insanely popular and iconic 2016 Mazda MX-5 Roadster and the family-orientated 2016 Mazda 2 Dynamic. As expected, the enthusiasm and feedback from the friendly shoppers was overwhelming.
From the youngsters that were overly-excited about the ultra-cool MX-5 Roadster beautifully poised in a Ceramic colour to the mid-aged sector that took a great interest in the affordable and functional Mazda 2, everybody participated in the ‘ZOOM-ZOOM’ experience.
Talking to the public about the impressive SkyActiv Technology and explaining what the KODO Design was all about surely sparked a great interest in the Mazda brand. The reason for our presence was initially to create a customer database and to introduce the ‘The Impossible Made Possible’ ethos of Mazda to the public, but we ended up developing more Mazda fans! Many happy shoppers made mention for our great SUV’s but were taken aback by the sleek and slender lines of the sexy MX-5.
Although test drives were not permitted on the day, a huge interest was shown towards the most popular 2-seater roadster in the world! Some of the most frequently asked questions were, ‘When will Mazda bring the rotary engine back?’ and ‘Will we see the 7-seater CX-9 in SA?, questions that made us proud to be part of the Mazda family. The enthusiasm was greatly appreciated and the awesome smiles and many thanks are always welcomed.
All the fun had to come to an end eventually, but all in all Mazda came and conquered @ the La Lucia Mall with 1 of the busiest and most interactive automobile marquees! See you soon at our next display!
