2022 Mazda CX-30 Review
Read our 2022 Mazda CX-30 review to learn more about the latest addition to the Mazda SUV range.
The 2022 CX-30, which resembles a more spacious, more rugged Mazda 3 hatchback, sits among the CX-5s in the brand’s small SUV line-up. The CX-30’s curving exterior design and near-premium cabin give it an upscale appearance that rivals small luxury crossovers like the Audi Q3 and the BMW X1, but its pricing is closer in line with mainstream subcompact SUVs like the Hyundai and the Volkswagen Taos. The base engine is a 2.5-litre four-cylinder with sluggish acceleration; hot-shoe drivers will prefer the optional turbocharged 2.5-litre.
What Is New in 2022?
For 2022, Mazda has made all-wheel drive standard across the CX-30 series, and a new Carbon Edition model is now available. The Carbon Edition model is based on the non-turbo CX-30 and features the same Polymetal Grey colour and red leather upholstery as other Carbon Edition Mazda’s, as well as black 18-inch wheels. Roof rails are now standard equipment on the Select model, and Platinum Quartz Metallic has been added to the colour palette.
Pricing and Which One to Buy.
The CX-30 has a premium starting price, but it comes with an array of standard tech and safety features that allow it to compete with many of the competition’s mid-range trims. (Visit CMH Mazda Menlyn website to view more about the specs of the Mazda CX-30). However, if you choose the turbocharged engine, the price becomes difficult to justify. A Mazda CX-5 with the same engine costs somewhat more.
The cabin is spacious, and the build quality is high, with soft-touch surfaces, leather, and tastefully placed chrome accents. The piano-black doorknobs squeak and create smudges from time to time, but no one will notice. Warranty and ownership fees are standard for the class.
Performance, Engine, and Transmission
The CX-30’s standard engine is a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with 186 horsepower, combined with a six-speed automated transmission that intelligently selects ratios based on driving conditions. A turbocharged 2.5-litre engine with 250 horsepower is available as an option. If you like the Mazda 3 hatchback, you’ll like the CX-30 since it’s just as nimble, athletic, and enjoyable to drive. Its precise steering and smooth body movements make it a joy to drive on a twisting road and create a sense of stability while cruising. Cargo, Interior, and Comfort

Buyers can choose between an eight- or 12-speaker audio system and optional heated front seats. The Premium model level includes leather upholstery and a power-operated rear liftgate.
Connectivity and infotainment
The CX-30 has a standard 8.8-inch screen with Mazda Connected Services, which allows owners to lock and unlock their vehicle, remote start it, and monitor it using the MyMazda app. The CX-30 also includes conventional Bluetooth, two front USB connections, and Wi-Fi hotspot functionality.
